Did you know: Cascade Medical is now recognized as a Level III Stroke Center?

In the medical community, there’s a saying when it comes to strokes: “Time equals brain.” What that means is that when you suffer a stroke, the longer you delay essential care, the more damage may be done to your brain, and the longer and more difficult your recovery may be. Seconds literally count.

That’s why Cascade Medical is so grateful to announce we are now recognized as a Level III Stroke Center. In practical terms, what does that mean for you? “When you have a stroke, every second counts,” said Cascade Medical Chief Operating Officer and Chief of EMS Pat Songer. “With this designation, we can give you “clot-busting” and other life-saving medication the moment you come through our doors if the patient meets the criteria.” Cascade Medical Director of Nursing Natasha Piestrup added, “Those are critical minutes where you are receiving essential care rather than spending time in transit. Those minutes add up to potentially much more positive outcomes for those recovering from strokes here in the Leavenworth area and Upper Valley.”

Many thanks to the efforts in our Emergency and Ambulance departments for their efforts in helping us achieve this designation, allowing us to expand care in our community.
