Otago Exercise Program at Cascade Medical Rehab

Improve Balance. Build Strength. Reduce Fall Risk.

Cascade Medical Rehab is offering the Otago Exercise Program—a research-based, instructor-led program designed to help reduce fall risk and build confidence in movement. This 8-week program is free to the community and guided by our experienced rehabilitation team.

Program Overview

The Otago Exercise Program is a structured physical therapy program originally developed in New Zealand and widely recognized for its effectiveness in fall prevention. Participants engage in gentle but targeted exercises including:

  • Leg strengthening
  • Balance training
  • Walking routines and functional movement practice

The program is suitable for anyone looking to improve mobility, particularly older adults or those recovering from injury.

Assessments (Required to Join)

All participants—new and returning—must complete a short assessment before beginning the 8-week program. Assessments will include:

  • A brief balance questionnaire
  • Simple balance tests with our instructors
  • Review of results with a licensed physical therapist

  • Tuesday, March 24
  • Thursday, March 26

Time: Starting at 9:45 AM (last call at 11:00 AM)

Note: You only need to attend one assessment to participate. Your class time will be set during your assessment—classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10AM or 11AM, and both sessions cover the same material.
