Now is a great time to think about immunization. Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, Washington State will eliminate personal exceptions for the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine in response to a multi-county outbreak last year. You can check your family's immunization status using MyIR.net, a secure database that compiles records from providers in Washington. Registration takes a few minutes, and parents can view their minor children’s status from one account. MyIR.net is also useful for employees at school districts or child care centers, who may need to provide proof of immunity against certain diseases.
Immunizations are one of the most safe and effective ways parents can protect themselves and their children from serious, and potentially fatal, diseases. The more people choose immunization, the less likely it is for an outbreak to spread in our community.
