Nearly 80 percent of voters in the Upper Valley supported a levy renewal that will ensure continued emergency medical services for the next six years.

For 30 years, the levy has been a vital part of funding ambulance service and the emergency department for the 1,200 square-mile hospital district. The district includes Dryden, Peshastin, Leavenworth and Plain.
Of the 2,492 ballots counted on Feb. 12, 1,991 voters approved the measure. With 300 ballots left to count, Chelan County will announce an updated tally on Feb. 15 and certify the final results on Feb. 22.
When the levy renews in 2020, the terms will be the same as the measure that passed in 2012 with 82 percent approval -- 50 cents per thousand of assessed property valuation for six years. For more information, visit our EMS Levy website.
